Northwest Community Lodge Association hosting golf tournament to raise funds for new long term care facility

Meadow Lake Golf Club, PineRidge Ford and the Northwest Community Lodge Association (NCLA) are calling all golfers to participate in a charity tournament to help raise funds for the new Northland Pioneer Lodge long term care facility currently being built.

Felicia Adams, NCLA member told meadowlakeNOW a high-quality long term care facility in the community will better serve our seniors and offer long term benefits to those who live here.

“I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of golfer’s out on the green,” she said. “It’s for a good cause as the new Lodge will benefit everyone in town.”

While details are still being finalized, Adams said participants can expect a day of fun, games, prizes and a dinner at the end of the tournament. Some of the Associations plans will develop as restrictions ease across the province.

Kevin Chapman, General Manager at PineRidge Ford has sponsored a three-year lease of a 2020 Ford Escape as a hole-in-one prize. One winner could take the vehicle home for three years at no cost with the potential to buy the lease out. The vehicle is valued at $33,200.

Meadow Lake Golf Club manager Sean Collins said tee times are scheduled 10 minutes apart to encourage physical distancing.

“During the time for COVID-19, it’s always good to support a good cause and play a round of golf,” he said. “It’s not a competitive tournament by any means, it’s a day of fun and we hope to see a lot of golfers out.”

Collins explained in order to comply with current pandemic restrictions, there will be no shot-gun tournaments with no more than four people to a team and the green has a system in place to remove golf balls without touching the flag.

The tournament is scheduled for Aug. 15 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $100 per person and anyone needing extra members for a team can be placed in one by contacting Felicia at (306)940-4376.
