19th COVID related death in Saskatchewan

The province has recorded one more death related to COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.

The person was in the Regina region and was in their 70s. A total of 19 people have now died from the virus in the province.

There are 11 new cases to report, bringing Saskatchewan’s total to 1,387. There are no new cases in the North.

Nine of the latest cases are located in the South Central zone, one in the Saskatoon zone, and one in the South West zones. Of today’s new cases, 10 are people living in communal living settings.

There are 13 people in hospital, with seven receiving inpatient care. There are three in Saskatoon, two in the South West region, one in the Central East region and one in Regina. Six people are in intensive care with four in Saskatoon, one in Regina and one in the North Central region.

Of the province’s total cases, 205 are travellers, 706 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 365 have no known exposures and 111 are under investigation by public health.

Across the province 64 cases are health care workers (although not all sourced their infections from work), 352 cases are from the far north zone (346 far north west, 0 far north central, 6 far north east), 304 are from the south zone (150 south west, 143 south central, 11 south east), 218 are from the Saskatoon area, 226 cases are from the north zone (98 north west, 63 north central, 65 north east), 187 cases are from the central zone (159 central west, 28 central east) and 100 cases are from the Regina zone.

There are 218 cases involving people aged 19 and under.

There are 441 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 435 are in the 40 to 59 age range; 243 in the 60 to 79 age range and 50 among people in the 80-plus age range.

Of the total amount of cases, 50 per cent are females and 50 per cent are males.

To date, 106,019 tests for the virus have been performed in the province. Yesterday 954 tests were performed. Testing is now available for anyone who requests it, regardless of whether they have symptoms.
