University of Saskatchewan sees increase in enrollment

Enrollment at the University of Saskatchewan is on track to be the highest ever.

Alison Pickrell, assistant vice-provost of strategic enrollment management for the U of S says there is a two per cent jump in enrollment this year.

“We are thrilled to see this increase,” Pickrell said.

The experience will be different this year compared to past semesters, impacting more students than ever before.

“(The) majority of students will be in a remote learning setting,” Pickrell said. “There are a small number of students who will be back on campus through a decision-making process prioritizing certain classes that require delivery on campus.”

Pickrell added that students have a plethora of choices when it comes to their education this year.

“We have a significant amount of new international students who will be able to study from their home country,” Pickrell said. “Students have more options available to them now. Most of the Canadian institutions and around the world are focusing on remote learning, there are more choices.”

The university measures enrollment four times throughout the academic year.

The school expects to hit 26,000 students this school year.
