Meadow Lake RCMP assist distressed motorist to hospital
A man was taken to hospital following an early morning pursuit by Meadow Lake RCMP.
At approximately 10 a.m. on Feb. 1, officers received a complaint of a truck driving erratically on Highway 55. After locating the vehicle heading into Meadow Lake, police noticed the driver was struggling to control the vehicle. RCMP made several attempts to have the driver pull over, but the driver did not respond, prompting officers to follow the vehicle with their emergency sirens on to alert other motorists.
The driver continued travelling southbound on Highway 4 in the oncoming lane, eventually coming to a stop in a nearby parking lot. The officer found the driver in serious medical distress, contacted EMS and the driver was transported to hospital.
Meadow Lake RCMP Sgt Ryan How stated motorists in medical distress should pull over when prompted by RCMP officers. He added medical reasons do not excuse motorists from following commands from authorities or exempt them from fines.
