Number of active COVID-19 cases drop below 1,000 for first time since November

With only 57 new cases of COVID-19 and 171 recoveries to report in the province today, active case numbers have dropped below 1,000 cases for the first time since Nov. 7, 2020.

Total case numbers in the province currently sit at 47,574 cases; 46,084 total recoveries and 938 currently active.

The new cases in northern Saskatchewan are located in the following zones: Far North West, one; Far North East, four; North West, five; North Central, three; North East, two; and one case is pending residence information. Five cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the North Central, four; and North West, one; zones.

One new death is being reported today in the 50 to 59 age group in the Central West zone.

NITHA Data

As of June 8, there were 47 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 14; Far North East, 28; North Central, two; and North East, three. There are 18 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North West, seven; and Far North East, 11. There have been 3,584 cases (98 per cent) recovered, and four people are hospitalized.

Vaccines reported

An additional 12,528 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 828,652.

The 12,528 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Far North West, 225; Far North Central, two; Far North East, 200; North West, 407; North Central, 518; North East, 746; Saskatoon, 2,894; Central West, 338; Central East, 790; Regina, 3,624; South West, 489; South Central, 833; and South East, 1,247. There were 215 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

Seventy-eight per cent of those over the age of 40 have received their first dose. Seventy-three per cent of those 30+ have received their first dose. Sixty-eight per cent of those 18+ have received their first dose, while sixty-five per cent of those 12+ have also received their first dose.
