COVID numbers continue to climb, 793 cases currently active

The provincial government is reporting another 141 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 as case numbers continue to climb. It’s the highest daily amount since May 30. There have been another two deaths.

This brings the total to 50,912 reported cases; 793 cases considered active and 49,533 cases considered recovered.

The current active case load sits at 338 in the six northern zones of the province.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (19), Far North Central (two), Far North East (29), North West (eight), North Central (nine), and North East (five).

Two new deaths were reported today bringing the provincial total to 586 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died and a case fatality rate of 1.2 per cent.

The province also reported another 2,755 vaccines today bringing the total amount administered in the province to 1,439,277. This total includes 670,911 residents that have now been fully vaccinated.

As of Aug. 11, there are 130 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 20; Far North West, 53; Far North East, 50; North Central, six; and North East, one.

There are 49 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; seven, Far North West, 20; and Far North East, 16; North Central, six; and North East, 0.

So far there has been 4,130 cases (97%) that have recovered, and five people are being hospitalized.
