Province reports 506 new cases of COVID-19 setting new daily case record

After the province recorded the most COVID-19 cases in one day during yesterday’s update, the government is reporting another 506 new cases setting a new record for the most COVID-19 cases in one day since the beginning if the pandemic.

The new cases located in northern Saskatchewan are in the Far North West (12), Far North Central (four), Far North East (64), North West (64), North Central (74), North East (25), and 41 new cases have pending residence information.

In Saskatchewan, 3,929 cases are considered active and 55,117 cases are considered recovered. Under one-third (32.2 per cent) of new cases are in the 19 years and under age category

Two new deaths were reported today and 627 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 406 (33.7 new cases per 100,000).

NITHA Data

As of Sept. 13, there are 52 new cases to report in NITHA communities; 42 (80 per cent) were unvaccinated, five (10 per cent) are partially vaccinated and five (10 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 386 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 18; Far North West, 33; Far North East, 212; North Central, 61; and North East, 62; 4,998 cases (92 per cent) have recovered, and 12 people are being hospitalized.

There are 91 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; one, Far North West, 15; and Far North East, 38; North Central, 16; and North East, 21.

Athabasca Health Authority (AHA)

Another two cases of COVID-19 were reported by the AHA on Sept. 13. Six cases are now active in Black Lake, eight in Fond Du Lac, and five in Stony Rapids.

One person is also being hospitalized in relation to COVID-19 in Black Lake.

Since multiple outbreaks starting in June 2021, there has been 135 active cases in AHA communities and one death. Since the pandemic began, AHA has reported there has been 490 total cases of COVID-19.
