Four new COVID-related deaths reported, 279 new cases

The province is reporting 279 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Monday.

Of these cases, 216 have been identified in unvaccinated individuals and 64 are in children ages 0-11.

Along with the new cases the province is also reporting four deaths among Saskatchewan residents who had COVID-19. This brings the provincial total to 785 and a provincial case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (three), Far North East (15), North West (17), North Central (30), and North East (five).

Of the 279 new cases of COVID-19 reported today in the province, 70 have been reported in the Northern Saskatchewan zones. In Saskatchewan’s six northern zones there are currently 1,310 active cases of COVID-19. (Government of Saskatchewan)

New cases today brings the total to 74,673 reported cases; 3,670 cases are currently considered active and 70,218 cases are considered recovered.

Over a quarter (27.6 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39

More than one in five (23.7 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated

There are currently a total of 335 individuals are hospitalized, including 250 inpatient hospitalizations and 85 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 335 patients, 254 (75.8 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

NITHA numbers

There are 20 new cases to report in NITHA communities – 14 (70 per cent) were unvaccinated, four (20 per cent) are partially vaccinated and two (10 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 251 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.
These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 47; Far North East, 137; North Central, 52; and North East, 15 with 6301 cases (96 per cent) having been recovered, and 12 people being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

No new cases were reported in the Athabasca Health Authority (AHA) and there are no active cases at this time.

According to Taiwo Olubanwo, executive director of Primary Health Care for AHA, COVID-19 vaccine rates are steadily rising in the AHA region with multiple CoVID-19 vaccine clinics ongoing.
