New daily COVID-19 cases below 50 for first time in nearly four months

The Government of Saskatchewan reported 49 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, bringing the total to 80,950 since the pandemic began.

The last time the number of new cases was below 50 was on Aug. 3 when 25 cases were reported.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are found in the Far North East (one), North West (five), North Central (five), and North East (one).

There are 858 active cases in Saskatchewan, also the lowest number since early August.

The province also reported 88 recoveries, meaning 79,166 cases in total have recovered.

Over one-quarter (26.5 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 11 or under. About one in 12, (8.3 per cent) new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) was fully vaccinated.

As of Nov. 29, a total of 130 people are hospitalized; including 39 ICU admission. Of the 130 patients, 89 (68.5 per cent) were not fully vaccinated. In addition to Saskatchewan ICU counts, there are five residents receiving care in Ontario.

One new death was also reported bringing the total number of Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died to 926.

There have been a reported 16,696 doses of vaccine given in the five to 11 age range; Far North West (179), Far North Central (six), Far North East (137), North West (1.052), North Central (695), and North East (195).

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 77 or 6.4 new cases per 100,000.

NITHA data

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) communities continues to drop.

Once again, there were no new cases to report bringing the active cases to just 20.

These cases are found in the Far North West (three), Far North East (seven), and North Central (10). A total of 6,854 cases (99 per cent) have recovered, and one person is in hospital.
