Apr 29, 2022 | 12:09 AM

Powered by endless energy, a lifelong gift for musical expression, and a pure love of performing, Nicole Sumerlyn has been engaging Canadian audiences for a decade with a traditional country sound blended with a rock edge.

Originally from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Nicole embraced music and performance very early on. At age 4, she was choreographing “shows” for her family and through her childhood, she listened to an array of country, rock, pop, and blues classics with a special appreciation for Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, and Willie Nelson. She added to her artistic upbringing with community theatre, fine arts classes, and 10 years of competitive dancing.

More recently, Nicole has come into her own as a sought-after live act on stage. After placing as a Top 4 finalist in the Breakthrough Country Music Project, she played the Calgary Stampede, Several Western Rodeos and Fairs, showcases at both BCCMA Awards Weekend, and Canadian Country Music Week before hitting a new milestone as a live performer at the internationally-attended SunFest Music Festival, playing in both 2017 and 2019 – the second time as an opener for Kip Moore on the main stage for an audience of thousands.

A 2019 return to Nashville culminated in Nicole’s first two digital single releases 2021’s dating- driven “Over A Drink”, which she performed on Music City’s popular “Today in Nashville”, and the summer-soaked, “Floatin’”,  Now in 2022, Nicole has unleashed “Hostage”, a deeply personal, riveting ballad that serves as her first official release to Canadian country radio.
