The designer of Saskatchewan’s flag has passed away

Jun 3, 2022 | 4:54 AM

The man who designed Saskatchewan’s flag passed away yesterday in England at age 81. During his time as a teacher in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan (just east of Swift Current) Anthony Drake created the flag in 1969. A contest was being held in the province when Drake designed the flag, and he joked that he entered the contest for the $1,000 prize money.

The last time Drake visited Saskatchewan was in 2019 for the 50th anniversary of the flag.
