Preston Faithful wins Day 1 at CPCA Finals, Gorst second
Preston Faithful is off to a hot start at the 2022 CPCA Finals.
The fourth-year driver took home day money at Halstead Downs in Lloydminster, finishing more than half a second ahead of Logan Gorst, the defending champion from Meadow Lake, with a time of 1:14:45. This practically guarantees that Faithful will improve on his career best finish of ninth place last year and provides more separation from drivers like Luke Tournier, Todd Baptiste and Danny Ringuette that are vying for Sunday’s Dash for Cash.
Currently, St. Walburg’s Jamie Laboucane — who placed ninth on Wednesday — leads the CPCA standings with 1073.5 points, more than 25 points ahead of any other driver. Gorst is second, Faithful is 50 points further back in third and Baptiste, last year’s high point champion and the 2019 champion, is 27.5 points back of Faithful in fourth. Tournier is 3.5 points back of Baptiste.
