Don’t forget to give!

It’s time for the North West region to show its support for community healthcare.

The eighth annual Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation’s ‘On Air for Healthcare’ radiothon fundraiser runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, May 12.

CJNB, Q98 and 93.3 The Rock of Pattison Media are broadcasting live from the lobby of the BUH for the event.

All funds raised will benefit the BUH Foundation’s campaign, “Medication Matters,” to purchase new Pyxis MedStations for the hospital.

Q98 Morning Show host Nic Fransoo noted ‘On Air for Healthcare’ is a good opportunity for the community to come together behind one great cause.

“The hospital is the cornerstone in our community,” he said. “Everybody is going to need it at some point. The only way we can continue to see the healthcare that we need is by supporting it. So, when our entire community comes together like this for ‘On Air for Healthcare’ it’s unbelievable to see the difference, the positive changes it makes in our hospital.”

BUH Foundation executive director Leanne Ducommun said this is the largest capital campaign that’s been taken on by the BUH Foundation, with the fundraising goal of $916,000 for this two-year fundraising initiative.

“Pyxis MedStations really are an innovative piece of medical equipment,” she added. “They are going to be replacing a lot of the current medication dispensing units we have within the hospital.”

Ducommun notes new technology is important in creating efficiencies.

“It is going to allow staff to be at the patient’s bedside a lot more,” she said. “It is going to improve efficiencies on medication requests that are submitted through the pharmacy and approved for delivery through Pyxis.”

“There is such a large benefit to supporting this capital campaign,” Ducommun added.
