Miracle Treat Day returns to support Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation

Aug 10, 2023 | 12:00 PM

Once again ice cream is on the menu along with a chance to support the most significant needs at Saskatchewan’s Children’s Hospital.

Aug. 10 marks the 21st Miracle Treat Day for DQ restaurants, with proceeds from Blizzard sales going to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Although Miracle Treat Day has been around for the past two decades, the partnership with Children’s Miracle Network has existed for more than 30 years.

Jada Kook is the Community Engagement Manager with the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation and said the money raised this year will help fund pediatric and maternal equipment at the hospital. Another critical area benefiting from this year’s fundraiser is the Child Life Zone at the hospital.

“The Child Life Zone is a super fun space within the Children’s Hospital where kids can come, be kids,” said Kook. “They do therapeutic play; they learn how to cope with being in the hospital and treatments. There’s art therapy, music therapy and it’s just a fun space. It’s a no-poke zone and kids just get to come be kids.”

Since the start of the partnership, DQ has donated over $48 million to local children’s hospital foundations in Canada. Last year alone, over $3 million was raised in Canada with about $240,000 coming from Saskatchewan.

Those unable to visit a DQ on Thursday can still contribute.

“You can make a donation at any Dairy Queen location, or you can visit us at pattisonchildrens.ca And those donations will come directly to the foundation.”
