Cremation with inurnment in the, Rapid View Cemetery, Rapid View, Saskatchewan.
Sandra, a special person, who was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, auntie, neighbor and friend to many.
Sandra Ann Mazurak was born July 17th 1950 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and was the youngest daughter to Nick and Joan Mazurak. Sandra is survived by her children Connie, Dwayne and Jason. Grandchildren Bobbi, Bailey, Corey, Brittney & Jacob, as well as 4 great grandchildren Carter, Cruze, Boh & Beige, and Brother David (Wife Donna). Sandra is predeceased by her husband, Elwood (Woody) Bachman, parents Nick and Joan Mazurak, and sister Mary-Jean Pliska.
At a young age, Sandra and her family moved to the divide – Known to most of us here today as the Height of land, south of Meadow Lake. For the first few years of their schooling Joan drove the family along with all nearby kids into Meadow Lake to school. When Sandra was in grade 3, Nick and Joan moved the family into Meadow Lake where they resided for the remainder of the childhood years.
Sandra had 2 older siblings, David & Mary-Jean. She attended school in Meadow Lake until her early high school years. In 1965, she met Elwood Bachman at a barn party west of Meadow Lake, Woody and Sandra were married November 19th 1966 in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.
They welcomed their first child Connie on April 1st, 1967, followed by Dwayne in 1971, then Jason 5 years later.
In 1972 Elwood and Sandra bought an acre of land in Rapid View from Ed Green, where they moved and resided on for nearly the remainder of their lives.
Throughout the years, Sandra mainly was a homemaker and focused on raising her children. She worked odd jobs including, babysitting, and providing cleaning services. In her later years she worked casually at the thrift mission in meadow lake and did noon hour supervision at Green Acre school.
In 1984, they welcomed their first of 5 grandchildren, Bobbi, followed by Bailey, then Corey, Brittney & Jacob. Sandra cherished her grandchildren greatly. Growing up she was always actively involved including babysitting, attending school functions, and never missing a sporting event they were competing in.
Bobbi & Baily have many fond childhood memories of our summers spent at 202 Stabler Point with Elwood & Sandra, While Woody was at work in Loon Lake for the day, grandma and her girls would hit up the beach, bike the trails or attempt to build fires on our own.
After their retirement they spent much of their time at Myers Lake. This became their second home and where many more memories were made out on the boat, around the campfires (That Woody made of course..) and enjoying the delicious fish fry’s.
Sandra loved visiting with her friends & family. She would often show up for coffee visits (but let’s be honest not before multiple phone calls to warn you first). She also had a great love for pretty things, she loved flowers, bright clothes, flashy jewelry and big hats.
We could likely continue for hours with all the fond memories and funny times we have had times with Grandma, After Grandpa’s passing in 2020 Grandma’s health started to slowly decline. She left Rapid View in May of 2022, and moved into the Villa in Meadow Lake. Her progressing COPD eventually landed her in the Meadow Lake Hospital, where from there she was transferred to the Northwest Community Lodge in the spring of 2023.
This past September, Sandera was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma- a form of Bone Cancer. We are very thankful for the love, support and care that she received while at the Northwest community Lodge. We are also thankful for Irvin’s daily visits and keeping her company throughout the last few years. Although we are sad she is gone, we are happy and at peace she is no longer suffering and is able to join Woody for boat ride and another cigarette.
On behalf of the family we would like to thank everyone who attended the Celebration of life, sent condolences or flowers and who helped with Sandra’s care over the past few years. Your thoughtfulness truly means the world to us.
