Donna Marie Waugh (Bennett) was born April 6th 1956 in Midale Saskatchewan, and she graduated to Heaven December 14th 2024 in Loon Lake Saskatchewan.
Donna spent her first two years in Southern Saskatchewan, because her father was working on the oil rigs. The family all moved to the Loon Lake area in 1958 and settled on the farm 10 miles west of Loon Lake. Donna attended the country school in Whelan as well as the Loon Lake school. She never finished school but went out working.
A lot of the work she did, and enjoyed, was food prepping, cooking, baking, catering, and sewing. Donna’s very first job was at KFC in Lloydminster! She worked in a fly in resort in northern Saskatchewan, worked at many different restaurants (pretty sure she worked at every restaurant in Loon Lake over the years!), cooked for a gravel crew near Edson Alberta, and cooked for her brother’s outfitting business for many years. So many people have tasted her wonderful tarts, pies, buns, cinnamon buns, spudnuts, potato soup, etc. Donna loved to bless people with good food!
Gordon and Donna were married January 19th 1984 and spent the first few years of their marriage working at David Thompson Resort, in the mountains of Alberta. They moved out west of Loon Lake in 1987 where they loved doing life with their Whelan neighbours. In 2006 they moved into the village of Loon Lake, where Donna continued to be an involved member of the community until she was called Home, making sure to donate auction items in the recent fundraiser for the Loon Lake Special Carehome.
Donna gave her life to Christ many years ago and attended Eston Bible College for 3 years, graduating in 1980. She loved the Lord and also enjoyed Southern Gospel music, the Gaither Vocal Band were one of her favourites.
Donna was predeceased by her Mother Dorothy Waugh, dad Jim Waugh, niece Cheri Wiebe, brother-in-law Fred Wiebe, her Uncle Ralph Kyle, and a very special great niece, Faith Waugh. Along with numerous Uncles, Aunts, cousins, and friends who were important to her. We know that Donna had quite the reunion when she stepped into Heaven!
Donna is survived by her husband of 40 years Gordon Bennett, daughter Joni (Greg) Taylor, sister Elnora Wiebe, brother Ron (Diane) Waugh, nephews Levi (Anita) Waugh, Jamie (Nicole) Waugh, Michael (Amy) Waugh, Kenneth (Jackie) Wiebe, Kevin (Colleen) Wiebe. Great nieces and nephews Aubrianna, Paige, Grace, Brielle, Jaelyn, Jeremy, Hannah, Tovah, Alistair, and Isaac. Along with so many special friends that she loved dearly, a few to mention: Betty Forsberg, Pat Campbell, and Elaine Neilly.
Donna loved gardening, bubblegum pink petunias being her favourite. She loved listening to the birds in her backyard, especially Purple Martins. She really enjoyed berry picking, willing to spend hours in the bush to get a pail full. She found such joy in blessing others, her hearts desire was to be a helper and a giver!
Donna we miss you and love you a lot!
