Barry was born July 29, 1943 in Imperial, Saskatchewan. He attended school in Coronach and worked in an accounting firm in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, where he met his wife Donna.
They married in Regina on May 3, 1968 and Barry worked at Revenue Canada. September 1976 saw Barry and fellow Revenue Canada employee Norman open “Deutscher and Aldous Accounting.” This partnership lasted 27 years.
Barry was a Meadow Lake Lion member for close to 50 years. He enjoyed his involvement with the Meadow Lake Stampeders, and he was their treasurer for many years. Barry enjoyed coaching his daughter’s minor softball and he organized his own slow pitch team.
13 Winters were spent in Mesa, Arizona where he participated in shuffleboard, making very close friends. The week long team shuffleboard tournament in Innisfail, AB every August, was never missed.
Barry was a hunter and fisherman, moving to Meadow Lake, offered him many opportunities to do both. Fly-in fishing trips, the week long fishing trips with the boys to Keeley and Canoe Lake were planned every year.
Of particular pleasure for Barry was sitting at the cabin at Greig Lake and reading a book in the sun on the back deck. Visits from friends, and family were always enjoyed. Teaching his grandchildren to play crib, he knew it taught them to think. He donated the crib tournament trophy to the Greig Lake Seniors Association.
Coffee with people in Dorintosh and the guys in Meadow Lake at Mcdonald’s was good for an hour or two when he was around.
These last 4 winters spent at Hector Trout Manor in Saskatoon was an adjustment for Barry. But he soon found many activities he enjoyed like shuffleboard Wednesday afternoons, and he organized Thursday afternoon crib. He played pool and kaiser, and table shuffleboard, and helping with the puzzles in the library.
Barry will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
