Two arrested after Sask. Mounties seize guns from ‘hidden compartment’ in Cadillac
RCMP say they found several guns, suspected drugs, cash and a baton hidden in compartments in an SUV on Saturday, northwest of the Battlefords.
According to police, officers stopped a black Cadillac Escalade SUV near the Poundmaker First Nation. A 27-year old female passenger from the Sweetgrass First Nation was arrested on an outstanding warrant for assault with a weapon and failing to appear in court.
The driver, a 40-year-old man from Cut Knife, was also arrested when officers allegedly spotted unstamped tobacco products inside the SUV. Police said he was found to be wearing body armour and carrying “a large hunting knife” when he was arrested.
“A search of the vehicle was conducted. A loaded, sawed-off shotgun was located and both people were re-arrested for possession of a loaded, prohibited firearm,” the RCMP said in a statement.
