Saskatchewan teachers get new deal thanks to arbitrator

An arbitration board has awarded members of the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) a two-year contract.
The approximately 13,500 members will not get a raise in the first year of the agreement but will have a one per cent increase in the second year.
STF President Patrick Maze acknowledged it might be disappointing to teachers, but it comes at a time when the provincial government is calling for wage cutbacks.
According to STF, the arbitrator rejected a proposal from the provincial government to significantly cut sick leave.
