Police blitz on Northern Sask. highways takes 21 drivers off the roads
A five-day blitz by Saskatchewan RCMP officers in Northern Saskatchewan last week saw 21 drivers removed the roads.
RCMP said in a news release on March 20 that the traffic safety initiative from March 11 to March 15 saw officers patrolling 2,400 kilometers of roads and highways.
Police said officers stopped 90 drivers for impairment checks and 18 of the 21 drivers taken off the road had drugs in their systems.
The blitz concentrated on areas around the La Ronge RCMP Detachment and involved officers from Martensville and Saskatoon.
