Hilda was born in 1921 in Silton, Saskatchewan, and lived a remarkable 104 years filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family.
In 1945, she married Frank, and together they built their life on the farm in Cabana, where she lived for 81 years. There, they raised their five children and created a home that became the heart of their family.
Alongside Frank, she helped run their three businesses—the Royalite station, the John Deere dealership, and the drive-in theatre—always working, always contributing.
Hilda was a woman of quiet strength and endless generosity. She worked tirelessly on the farm, cared deeply for those around her, and found joy in life’s simple moments—her gardens, her music, her hummingbirds, and time spent with loved ones.
Her faith was unwavering, and her kindness touched everyone who knew her. Whether through a warm meal, a handmade quilt, or a simple smile, she made people feel welcome and loved.
Hilda had a special gift for creating things with her hands, and everything she made carried a piece of her love. She spent countless hours quilting, each stitch carefully placed, turning simple fabric into something warm and lasting for her family. She crocheted delicate christening gowns for her great-grandchildren—beautiful, meaningful pieces that marked the beginning of new life and new generations. Along with these, she made many other handcrafted gifts over the years, each one given quietly and generously. They weren’t just items—they were expressions of her care, her patience, and her deep love for the people she cherished.
Above all, Hilda cherished her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, whose legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. With love and gratitude, your family.
