Officers from Buffalo Narrows and La Loche RCMP detachments responded immediately and located the woman. Darian Montgrand was arrested outside the residence.

EMS attended and declared the woman deceased. She has been identified as 21-year-old Shalayah Montgrand. Her family has been notified and victim services have been made available to them.

According to sources who reached out to meadowlakeNOW, the victim and the accused were in a relationship and there was a history of domestic violence.
