Los Angeles Angels avoid series sweep with 6-1 victory over Toronto Blue Jays
TORONTO — Jose Soriano’s stingy 7 2/3 innings and Jo Adell’s two solo homers pushed the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday to avoid being swept in the three-game series.
Soriano (6-2) struck out seven and only gave up a run on five hits with a walk for the Angels (16-25) after Toronto (18-22) claimed the first two games of the series.
After beginning the season with five straight wins, Soriano’s 103-pitch effort before 40,977 at Rogers Centre gave him his first victory since April 17.
Toronto third-baseman Kazuma Okamoto drove his team’s only run in the first inning to extend his hit streak to nine games.
