Man arrested on Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation after RCMP warrant operation

A 32-year-old man is facing an additional charge after RCMP arrested a wanted suspect on Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation following a warrant operation involving multiple police units.

Loon Lake RCMP were notified on May 25 at about 10:10 p.m. that a wanted man was seen on the First Nation driving with a firearm. He was wanted on several charges out of the Loon Lake RCMP, including weapons and firearms offences, flight from police, and resisting peace officers.

Investigators later confirmed the man was located at a residence on Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation. On May 26, officers secured the area and executed a warrant on the home, where the man was arrested without incident. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team assisted with this investigation.

As a result of the investigation, 32-year-old Fred Durocher of Island Lake First Nation was arrested on outstanding warrants. He has also been charged with one count of resisting arrest under Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code.
