Man arrested, investigation continues into northern weekend shooting

The RCMP are updating the public in regard to a shooting Sunday near Weyakwin.
According to police, following the shooting that occurred on Highway 165 on July 26, officers from La Ronge located a grey truck that matched the suspect vehicle’s description. Officers initiated a traffic stop, but the truck fled at a high rate of speed.
A tire deflation device was set up on Highway 2 south of Weyakwin, which the grey truck ran over and later came to a stop. A man exited the truck, which was stolen from Meadow Lake, and fled on foot into a nearby treed area.
Police dogs, as well as a remotely piloted aircraft, were deployed to conduct aerial searches of the area. As a result of investigation, a 28-year-old man was located and arrested.
