Sask. drivers face SGI rate increase of 3.75 per cent in 2027
SGI customers will face an increase in their insurance rates for a second straight year.
The Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel (SRRP) has recommended a 3.75 per cent overall Auto Fund increase, with rate rebalancing, which is set to take effect on June 1, 2027.
Rate rebalancing means the increase for each customer will vary depending on what type of vehicle is being driven. In a statement, the government said, “Unlike a capital margin increase, which applies equally across all vehicle classes, SGI’s rate-setting approach aligns rates with the anticipated claim costs of each vehicle class.”
SGI has announced it will move forward with the increase, and the Government of Saskatchewan has also formally approved a 3.75 per cent increase for 2026, which took effect June 1 of this year.
