It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Gayle Thunderchild, lovingly known to many as “Big Dee,” announces that she joined the Creator on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the age of 62 years.

Doris was a loving and vibrant lady who truly enjoyed life and believed in having fun along the way. She had a warm spirit and treasured the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends. Those who knew Big Dee will remember her love of roses, the colour pink, and the many special moments she shared with the people she cared for.

Doris was a proud traditional woman who held her culture close to her heart. She loved attending powwows and celebrating the traditions that were an important part of her life. She also had a deep appreciation for nature and eagles, finding beauty and meaning in the world around her.

Big Dee’s love for life, her culture, her family, and her friends will remain a cherished part of her memory. Her joyful spirit and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Doris is forever loved and remembered by her Son Falcon (Amanda) Thunderchild and their children Grayson, Hazel and Niskisis; Siblings Harvey Thunderchild, Raymond (Cori) Thunderchild, Melvina Albert, Rhonda (Lester) Bugler, Lorenda (Merl) Dustyhorn, Maxine (Dave) Thunderchild, Lola (Dennis) Taylor, and Amanda Thunderchild; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She is predeceased by her Parents Victor and Mary Thunderchild; Siblings Irwin Thunderchild, Wayne Thunderchild, Richard Thunderchild, Victor Thunderchild Jr., and Sharon Thunderchild; Paternal Grandparents Ed and Helen Thunderchild; Maternal Grandparents Pat and Selina John; As well as numerous aunties, uncles and relatives.

Doris’ Wake will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Chief James Okanee Memorial Centre, Thunderchild First Nation, Saskatchewan.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2026, at the Chief James Okanee Memorial Centre, Thunderchild First Nation, Saskatchewan.
