Hydrant testing underway in Meadow Lake

Residents in Meadow Lake may notice changes to their water service this week as the city carries out routine hydrant testing and winterization.

Contractors began the work Tuesday, with officials expecting it to be completed by the end of the week, barring any complications.

As hydrants are opened during the process, changes in water pressure in surrounding water lines may temporarily affect nearby properties. Residents may notice water from fire hydrants flowing into the street, a slight drop in water pressure or temporary water discoloration as sediment is flushed from the lines.

Residents who notice these changes are encouraged to avoid using hot water where possible while work is taking place in their area. This can help prevent sediment from being drawn into hot water heaters.
