VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Goldeneyes have hired Delaney Collins as an assistant coach, the Professional Women’s Hockey League team announced Thursday.

The 49-year-old from Pilot Mound, Man., is the coach of Hungary’s senior women’s team and has 15 years of experience coaching at both NCAA and international levels.

Collins was head coach of the Canadian 2018 under-18 women’s squad that won a world championship bronze medal, and helped the team win silver in 2015 and 2017.

She joined Hungary’s program in 2021, serving as assistant coach at four women’s world championships before moving into the head coach role.

She also spent five NCAA seasons as an assistant at Mercyhurst University, where the program reached two Frozen Four appearances.

Collins won five world championship medals with Canada as a defender, including three gold, before joining the coaching ranks.

Collins joins a staff led by former general manager and new head coach Cara Gardner Morey. She has experience working with current Vancouver players Kristen Campbell and Ashton Bell while an assistant with Canada’s U18 squad.

“It is a privilege to join the Vancouver Goldeneyes as we head into our second season,” Collins said in a statement. “I’m most excited about the potential of this group of players and the culture that has already been established in Vancouver.

“Cara will set a high standard from Day 1, and I look forward to working closely with her and our entire staff as we continue building on the energy and support this team has received.”
