Sask. army reservists raise over $5,000 walking for Wainwright victims
A little bit later than scheduled, one of the two army reservists finished his 200-kilometre walk in honour of the Canadian Armed Forces troops injured in the major grass fire at that Alberta base.
Ethan Spiess and Owen Schultz set out on Monday at 6 a.m. to walk 200 kilometres around Saskatoon in honour of their fellow Canadian Armed Forces members who were killed and injured at CFB Wainwright earlier this month.
Schultz said a man in his unit was among those injured and remains in critical condition.
The two initially set a goal of $900 to raise for the Canadian Red Cross through a GoFundMe page online. As of Friday afternoon, the two had raised more than $5,600 — more than five times their original target.
