Sask First Nations Safety Association Event

Reducing work place injuries and deaths within First Nation communities is the focus of a new provincial organization that is hosting its first provincial conference next month in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The conference is being organized and hosted by the Saskatchewan First Nations Safety Association (SFNSA). The purpose of the association is to generate greater public safety awareness, provide advice, advocacy, training and safety management to First Nations.

The association says it is beginning to generate a lot of momentum toward its October conference. The conference is a critical component of our strategy to engage First Nations and broaden education and awareness. The conference will also promote the SFNSA’s programs and services which are designed to meet the needs of First Nations at the community level, SFNSA Chief Executive Officer Toby Desnomie said.

 Desnomie is a twenty-year veteran of occupational health and safety industry. He is the owner and operator of safety and training firm TGD Training & Consulting. He created the Saskatchewan First Nations Safety Association, a non-profit organization, a few months ago after noticing gaps in programs and services to First Nation communities.
