Elizabeth Laurisa Swiezak (née Chuiko) June 4, 1941 – August 7, 2026

Our Beautiful Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister passed away suddenly from an internal aneurysm at home, surrounded by her loving family on August 7, 2026 at the age of 85 years.

Elizabeth “Betty” leaves to mourn her husband of 65 years, Edward Swiezak; daughter Debbie (Joe) Vidal; daughter Marie (Neil) Wallace; son David (Leanne) Swiezak; grandson Michael Vidal (Jill Leclerc), grandson Matthew Vidal (Hope Ellerman); granddaughter Breanne (Geoff) Jones; grandson Coleton (Cordy) Swiezak, grandson Kyler Swiezak and great grandsons Levi Jones and Theodore Swiezak; alongside numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was born and raised in the Big Bush area between Loon Lake and St. Walburg, Saskatchewan. Early childhood days were spent playing and working with brothers Mike, Paul, Danny, Bill and sister Sophie on the Chuiko family farm. Mom attended school in a one room building until she moved to Loon lake to attend High School. Betty worked as a teller for the RBC in Meadow Lake until she met her future husband Edward at the Loon Lake doctor’s office. They married in 1961 and grew the family farm business while establishing their family located just east of Makwa. They actively farmed at this location for the next 60 years and officially retired in 2020.

Betty was an active member of the Makwa community and volunteered her services to the Makwa Community Hall for over 20 years. You could often see her buzzing around town in her “Jaguar” plated Geo metro. She baked cookies for school fund raisers, pies for the curling rink and any food requested for local events. During her life, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, traveling, curling, bowling and most importantly spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and also grand-dogs which she babysat often.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Makwa Community Hall.
