Elva Aletta Annie Gavigan (nee Willows)
May 4, 1932 – March 2, 2019
In Loving Memory of Elva Gavigan, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend. With heavy hearts the family of Elva announces her passing on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the age of 86 years. Following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s and Dementia. Elva will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Edwin (Linda) Gavigan, Bill Gavigan, Robert Gavigan; daughter, Sharon Gavigan; grandchildren, Stacey (Chris), John (Colleen), Christopher (Roberta), Jason (Char Mei), Jonathon (Lindsay), Dillon, Taylor, and Alaina; 10 great grandchildren; special nephew, James Willow; lifelong pen pal, Patsy Cook; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Elva was predeceased by her parents, Clarence & Alva (nee Connor) Willows; her son, Alan Gavigan; daughter, Virginia Deagle; brother, George Willows; sister in laws, Irene Willows and Betty Gavigan.
Elva was born May 4, 1932 in Plato, Saskatchewan to Clarence and Alva Willows. She was raised on the farm and attended school in Dorintosh, Saskatchewan until she was 16 years old, then moved to London, Ontario with her mother. While working at Kellogg’s making cereal she met and married her husband. They lived in Canada and the USA until they finally settled for good in Edmonton in 1965. Elva retired from Northlands in 1997, and gave retirement life a try on Vancouver Island, before returning to Edmonton to spend more time with her grandchildren. Elva’s greatest interests were her grandchildren, gardening and canning, doing cross-stitch, crocheting and knitting. We would like to invite everyone to join us in a Celebration of Life on Saturday March 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Balwin Community Hall, 12904 74 Street, Edmonton, Alberta.
