It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother, Eric Lay, on July 3, 2026, at the age of 74, at the Meadow Lake Hospital, due to complications from a bad fall. Eric was born to his loving parents, Roy and Gladys Lay of Golden Ridge Sask.
Eric was a kindhearted man that was always willing to help others. He built a beautiful house in Maidstone. He drywalled and painted with, Ray Booth. He drove truck for Ronnie Sydia, Lay’s Trucking and Wescan. He was a faller and skidder operator for his father, Roy Lay, in the bush camp, where they also had a sawmill. He owned his own oil truck. Also, Eric and Alan ran a skidder in the bush together. His cowboy days were out in B.C. With his brother Alan, who was nicknamed, “Tiger Lay,” at that time. They worked along with their uncle Vic, breaking, riding horses, and packing.
Eric won a Best Award for Select Coyote, only 12 made it and his was one of them. It was a big reward at that time of $450.00
He loved to tell tall stories. He also was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and he talked to many people about his hope to live forever in a Paradise Earth and his belief in the resurrection and he knew if he passed away, he would be resurrected back to to life in the Paradise Earth.
