Grace passed away peacefully with her family present, on June 6, 2024, two days after we had celebrated her 97th birthday at the Northwest Community Lodge. Grace was born in Fiske, Sask. to Leonard and Hulda Donally, the eldest of four children.
During the Dirty 30’s the family moved to the Four Corners District NW of Meadow Lake. After starting her career as a teacher at Dafoe, Sask. she soon met her husband to be in 1949 and began teaching in Meadow Lake the following year. Grace Married Phil Bowerman in 1953 and they had three children; Leonard, Harvey and Janice.
In the face of many physical challenges, Grace raised her family, was a farmer’s wife, taught school full-time and managed to be an accomplished seamstress, in addition to faithfully serving in her church and the Meadow Lake Museum Society.
After retiring, Grace and Phil did some traveling to Eastern and Western Canada in addition to a few trips to the United States.
Grace was a resident of the Northwest Community Lodge from 2018 to the present. She was very appreciative of the care she received there and enjoyed playing
Scrabble anytime someone was up to the challenge.
