The family of Norman Steier is saddened to announce his Passing on Thursday June 11, 2026, in Meadow Lake, Sask.
Norman Martin Steier was born on February 9, 1944, on a farm near Leader, Sask. Norman has one older sister Lillian and one younger sister Audrey. Years later Jean was adopted to complete their family. In 1951 the family relocated to the Meadow Lake area, finally settling in the St. Cyr district. In 1962 Norman met the love of his life Frances Millar. They married a short time later on February 4, 1964.
Evelyn was born November 2, 1964, one short year later they welcomed their second daughter Jackie to the family, on December 16, 1965. August 19, 1967 their family was complete with the arrival of Wanda.
When Norman wasn’t farming he was working other seasonal jobs such as working at the Meadow Lake Sawmill, the old Meadow Lake Curling Rink and Department of Highways.
Norman was a devoted Roman Catholic attending mass in Meadow Lake and Green Lake. In 1973 Norman joined the Knights of Columbus, later became a 4th degree Knight.
Norman enjoyed spending time with family and friends fishing, playing cards, drinking coffee and visiting. Norman loved to dance and taught his daughters to dance by having them stand on his feet. Norman’s favorite family trips were to B.C. enjoying the fresh air, mountains, water and blue skies.
In 2020 Norman went into kidney failure, resulting in him having to live in Saskatoon for a year to take dialysis treatments, coming home every weekend to spend time with family. In 2021 the Meadow Lake Dialysis Centre opened were Norman was their first recipient to receive treatment. Norman spent three days a week for four hours a day doing dialysis. Norman developed a very close friendship with his nurses.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Meadow Lake Dialysis Centre for all the special care Norman received
during his treatments.
