It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Preston “Button” Drake Cheenanow on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 38 years.

Preston was a beautiful soul full of life. He made everyone smile and joke around. His hobbies were hunting, camping and was a spiritual believer who took part in traditional ceremonies. He was also a great cook and was always there when you needed him.

Preston is survived by His Children: Lebron, Patience, Rosie, Tristan, True, Lacey, and Samson; Sister Chery Cheenanow Freedom; Brothers Don, Trevor, Isaiha, and Windwalker; As well as numerous uncles, aunties, cousins, nieces, nephews, external family and friends.

Preston is predeceased by His Parents Mike Cheenanow and Myrna Ochuschayoo; Brothers Michael, and John; Niece Dimara Harris; Paternal Grandfather Albert Ochuschayoo; Maternal Grandparents Rosie Cheenanow and William Skeenum.

A Wake will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Simon and Alma Kytwayhat Hall, Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, Saskatchewan.

The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Simon and Alma Kytwayhat Hall, Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, Saskatchewan.
