CREMATION
Dr. Travis Paul Remarchuk
July 1, 1971 – July 1, 2023
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Travis on July 1, 2023.
Travis passed away accidentally while on holiday in Easter Island, Chile.
He was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on July 1, 1971. In February 1973, the family was transferred to Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan where he spent his childhood years. After high school, Travis studied chemistry at the University of Saskatchewan. He went on to pursue a career in chemistry, including a PhD from the University of California, Irvine and a post-doctorate degree from Harvard University in Boston. Travis was proud to have contributed to the creation of several new pharmaceuticals, was well published in scientific journals and was named on several patents. He was well known and respected in the scientific community and will be well-remembered as a scientist and mentor.
Travis had a passion for travelling. He loved exploring new places, and had a genuine interest in the history and the local people of every place he visited. He was fortunate to have travelled around the globe, making friends along the way.
He made sure that his travels included coming back to Meadow Lake to enjoy the different seasons. He loved the smell of the forest in particular, and his walks at Greig Lake, Saskatchewan. He also enjoyed a good game of golf and playing crib with his friends, a game he also used to love playing with his dad.
Travis was a man who led by example and treated all people with honesty and respect. He helped in any way he could and was a friend to many. He will be sadly missed by his mother, Eve, his brother, Jason (Diana), his sister, Kirsten (Chris), and his nephew, Jesse (Kyla), as well as his many friends, family and colleagues.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Travis’s honour to the donor’s choice. Travis supported and encouraged education and was passionate about science.
The family extends sincere appreciation to everyone for the comfort, visits, condolences, and support as well as the food, flowers, cards and tributes in Travis’s name.
His conversations always ended with “every day is a gift.”
He is and always will be missed. We love you, Travis. Forever in our hearts.
