How to stay safe and aware over long weekend
Camping season has begun, but park officials warn there’s much campers need to be aware of while having fun in the great outdoors.
Ticks are the biggest concern, according to Jason Moore, manager of Blue Mountain Adventure Park. “We have experienced an increase of ticks in the North Battleford area. Other than sucking your blood and being a nuisance the ones in this area aren’t too harmful.”
However, Moore said there is a possibility of deer ticks, which can carry lyme disease, in the area. If anyone finds a tick on them, Moore advised to monitor the area and seek medical attention if red blotches in a ring around the bite appear.
Wildlife is another concern for campers.
