So Much to Do at PA National Park

As we make our way through July, many exciting events are fast approaching and details are now available! Feel free to share with colleagues, tourism partners, and the public.

Management Planning Consultation & Open House Events – Saturday, July 8 and Saturday, July 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Hawood Inn’s Spruce River Room in the Waskesiu town site.

The draft of the Prince Albert National Park Management Plan is now available for public review: http://www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/sk/princealbert/info/plan/plan12. This important document provides a long-term vision for the park by outlining key strategies for maintaining and improving the ecological integrity, facilitating high quality visitor experience and conducting effective public engagement.

  • Share your thoughts and opinions on this draft management plan over the phone, via e-mail, mail, or in person at one of the open house events!
  • Plan to attend an open house event to ask questions, hear more about key strategies included in the draft plan, and meet with members of the management planning team.
  • Send your comments in writing to:

Waskesiu Heritage Museum BBQ and Yard Sale – Saturday, July 8

  • The annual Yard Sale is this Saturday in the Waskesiu town site
  • Browse for bargains and treasures from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on the museum grounds!
  • Take a break from shopping at 11:00 a.m. as the BBQ starts up and enjoy a hotdog and a glass of lemonade.

25th Annual Waskesiu Children’s Festival – Saturday, July 15

Mark your calendars for this fun filled day for the entire family!

  • We are pleased to announce that ParticipACTION will be joining the Children’s Festival stations this year.  Stop by and check kayaking, field hocking, surfing, and stick pull off your #150PlayList!
  • Don’t miss out on face painting, crafts, puppet shows, performers, fire truck tours, Indigenous games, and much more!
  • Passport stamps will be given out at activity stations! Fill half of your passport to receive a half price movie at Twin Pines Movie Theatre.
  • All activities are available from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and are FREE with your C150 Discovery pass so come join us and celebrate the leaders of tomorrow!

Find your spot in the sun!

Whether you enjoy the buzz of activity at the Waskesiu Main Beach, the quiet calm of Point View, or something in between, Prince Albert National Park has the ideal lakeside experience for you. With 10 vehicle-accessible beaches, plan for the day and spread a blanket in the sand, take a dip in the buoyed swimming areas, or enjoy a picnic lunch! Remember, beaches are unsupervised and swimming in these areas is at your own risk.  

Weekly Interpretive Activities are in full swing!

Park programs are running from now until Thursday, August 24th. Enjoy free family fun all summer long! Musicals, hands-on crafts, and sing-alongs are only some of the activities available as part of this year’s Summer Programs, there is something for everyone!

  • Home and Hearth program will include storytelling, music, plant medicine and making bannock over an open fire!
  • Aquatic Animals  fish for lake critters and getting to know who else prefers lake life
  • Spirits of the Park is a new program this year! Park characters leap out of the history books and onto the streets of Waskesiu!
  • Traditional Games test out the hunting skills that Indigenous people depended on.
  • Bison Will Rise Again & Celebrate with song (July)  join the talented interpretive staff in song and enjoy two of the exciting musical programs offered this summer!
  • Art in the Park, a great activity for those young artists who enjoy painting and clay!

Mark your Calendar! Three Island Music Festival – Saturday, July 22  

Join the Waskesiu Marina Adventure Center for a fun filled day of paddling and music at the Hanging Heart Lakes.
