External review ongoing into La Loche RCMP after man’s leg broken during arrest

Aug 16, 2019 | 3:02 PM

La Loche RCMP have requested members of the Moose Jaw Police Service investigate whether excessive force was used during an arrest.

The investigation into an officer’s conduct relates to a January 2, 2019 incident where a man suffered a broken leg when he was arrested. The injured male filed a public complaint against the arresting officer three days after the incident.

The complaint was investigated and internal investigators determined the level of force was acceptable given the circumstance of the arrest, RCMP said.

However, as part of the complaint procedure, an external police agency review was requested.
