Planning underway for Meadow Lake housing project

Dec 13, 2019 | 1:38 PM

The Meadow Lake Native Urban Housing Corporation (MLNUHC) is in its planning phases for the construction of two Meadow Lake Affordable Housing Duplexes.

According to a spokesperson for MLNUHC, 110 9th Ave. East and 501 5th Ave. West, are slated to be demolished in the coming months.

Deana Grunerud, project developer with Saskatchewan Housing Corporation (SHC) told meadowlakeNOW an official announcement on what the project will be has not yet been made.

“We deliver programs that develop new construction and renovations and it really depends on the project,” she said. “[The site could be] a woman’s shelter, a group home or affordable housing units.”

Tim Gross, executive director of housing development said the date for demolition is also unclear.

“There is a tender out with a partner with ours and they’re soliciting contractors to do work on it. We’re looking for them to bid on the project and once the tender deadline is closed we’ll assess bids and pick the best proponent to undertake the project,” Gross said.

The tender deadline for contractors is Dec. 19 at 2 p.m.
