Possible COVID-19 exposure at Battleford business

Aug 19, 2020 | 7:28 AM

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is alerting individuals of a possibility of COVID-19 exposure through a local business in Battleford and is urging Saskatchewan residents to follow public health measures and personal safety precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.

Members of the public who visited the Coop Food Store on 22nd St. in Battleford from August 11 to August 14 are advised to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days from the last date they visited the store.

If health officials are uncertain that they have identified all known close contacts to the individual who tested positive for COVID-19, the SHA issues an alert to notify the community about possible locations where the individual may have attended while infectious.

The SHA recommends the following practices to avoid getting sick:

  • Keep at least 2 meters away from others when in public and wear a mask when that’s not possible.
  • Limit gatherings to the numbers specified in public health orders.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water; if soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

An online self-assessment is available at Saskatchewan.ca/COVID19 or call HealthLine 811.

Testing is now universally available to anyone who requests it, regardless of whether they have symptoms or not.
