Ile a la crosse youth charged with second degree murder

Feb 11, 2021 | 3:50 PM

A 15-year-old male is in custody following an incident that led to the death of an adult male.

On February 10 at approximately 3 a.m., Ile a la Crosse RCMP responded to a residence at Elbow Crescent in Ile a la Crosse after receiving reports of an adult male being stabbed. When officers arrived on scene, emergency services observed witnesses performing life-saving measures on 46-year-old Cameron Roy. Attempts to save the man were unsuccessful and Roy was pronounced dead on the scene.

Shortly after, a 15-year-old male was arrested without incident, taken into custody and charged with second degree murder. It is reported that both the youth and the victim knew each other. In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the RCMP will not be releasing the name of the youth.

Provincial and municipal authorities have all been involved in the investigation. The youth remains in custody and is expected to appear at Meadow Lake Provincial Court on February 16, 2021.
