Farmer’s market returns to Meadow Lake Friday morning

As the Meadow Lake community continues to reopen throughout the summer, some integral events, like the farmer’s market, are making their return.

The Meadow Lake Farmer’s Market is set to reopen up to the community on June 11 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Meadow Lake & District Museum. People who plan on attending will need to wear masks and observe the current social distancing guidelines while they are at the market.

Market manager Vicki Cockrum said the market will follow the current public health measures, and will re-evaluate those requirements as the vaccination efforts continue.

“We’ll be starting off our year with stricter guidelines than we had last year,” Cockrum said.

“When they relax, that’ll be nice as the choice would be the vendor’s choice and the shopper’s choice as to how far they’ll protect themselves.”

She explained the traffic flow through the market and observing practices observed by businesses in the area will play a role in how the market approaches future public health recommendations.

Cockrum added she is expected to have anywhere between 8-12 vendors when the market is open, stating this opportunity provides them with a highly-valued venue for their business.

“It’s all something we look forward to. A lot of us vendors have been here for quite a few years, so it’s a source of income for us. We’re thankful we can open. If we couldn’t open, we would be very disappointed. We’re thankful that we can open, and we will follow whatever guidelines are put forth by the government.”

The market is expected to operate every Friday until the second weekend in October.
