Residents invited to review Tolko’s five-year harvesting plans

Oct 2, 2026 | 1:51 PM

Residents will have a chance to review Tolko’s proposed harvesting plans for northwestern Saskatchewan and give feedback at four open houses this month.

The company’s Meadow Lake division is preparing a forest operating plan for 2027–2032, with detailed harvesting plans for April 1, 2027, to March 31, 2029. Operations for the remaining three years will be outlined more generally.

The plan covers the Bronson–Green Lake Timber Supply Area, as well as agricultural lands in the Spiritwood and Goodsoil timber supply areas. Tolko said it will submit the plan to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment’s Forest Service.

The Meadow Lake open house is scheduled for Oct. 15 at Alliance Church, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Three other sessions will be held:

  • St. Walburg: Oct. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the St. Walburg Legion.
  • Loon Lake: Oct. 14, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., at the Loon Lake Senior Centre.
  • Green Lake: Oct. 15, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., at the Green Lake Arena.

Residents who cannot attend can review proposed operating-plan maps online. The maps will be available Oct. 5 on its Meadow Lake Woodlands webpage.

The company has also begun work on a separate 20-year forest management plan for the Bronson–Green Lake area, covering 2028–2048.

Information about that process, including its engagement plan, terms of reference and work plan, will be available at the open houses for review and feedback.

Tolko holds a forest management agreement for the Bronson/Makwa and Green/Sled forest areas, which make up the Bronson–Green Lake Timber Supply Area.

People can submit questions or comments to sk.tolkowoodlands@tolko.com. The company said it can arrange individual phone calls or online meetings, small-group online meetings and field tours.
