Conservative Member of Parliament for Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River Gary Vidal was appointed to a new role in the Conservative party’s shadow cabinet today.

Vidal will serve as shadow cabinet minister for Indigenous Services.

“It is an honour to be named the Shadow Cabinet Minister of Indigenous Services Canada by our new leader, Pierre Poilievre. Building authentic relationships are the foundation to working together in finding ways for Indigenous communities and people to prosper. As I have done since 2019, I will continue to respectfully show up, listen, and learn so we can find real solutions,” Vidal wrote in a statement to meadowlakeNOW.

Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition announced his shadow cabinet today, stating its primary purpose will be to combat inflation in Canada.

“Together with this team, Conservatives will take on Justinflation, fight all of Trudeau and his costly coalition’s tax hikes – including his plans to triple the expensive carbon tax – and tackle the cost-of-living crisis so that young people can buy a home, families can afford nutritious food, and our seniors can retire with dignity,” Poilievre said in a statement posted to the Conservative party website.

Poilievre was selected as the new leader of the party in September.
