Feb 8, 2024 | 1:45 PM

Millions of dollars have been raised through oil and gas leases and licenses approved in the Lloydminster area.

The Government of Saskatchewan held six public offerings between April 2023 and February 2024 where companies could bid on parcels of land across the province. This included in and around Lloydminster, Kindersley, and Estevan.

In total, 148 leases and licenses in the Lloydminster area were bid on, bringing in over $14.5 million.

The province was able to raise over $75 million when adding up all the bids during the six public offerings.

The highest bid was for more than $10 million by Millennium Land Limited. It was for a roughly 1,300-hectare parcel of land in the Estevan area, west of Alameda.

The province will hold the first public offering for the 2024/25 year on April 2nd. It will include 145 leases covering over 17,600 hectares and two exploration licenses covering nearly 2,100 hectares.
