RCMP announce appointment-only Criminal Record Checks ahead of 2026 Winter Games

Loon Lake RCMP is advising residents that anyone requiring a Criminal Record Check must schedule an appointment in advance.  

With Meadow Lake hosting the 2026 Winter Games, the detachment is anticipating an increase in requests for criminal record checks as residents sign up for volunteer positions.  

To better accommodate, scheduling times will be available for two evenings this month: Feb 4 and Feb 12 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

Volunteers will only be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check when they are given a role to be left unsupervised with children or vulnerable adults in a position of authority. In these cases, the organization is legally required to give the volunteer a letter that explains this role. 

Regular services at the Loon Lake RCMP detachment will resume on Feb 16. Checks will then be completed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
