Missing teen found deceased near Pelican Narrows

May 18, 2026 | 5:35 PM

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit is investigating the death of a missing Ontario teenager after human remains discovered near Pelican Narrows were identified as 16-year-old Jay’siiah Webb-Long.

Police said officers located the remains during a planned search on May 13 near the northern Saskatchewan community. An autopsy conducted on May 15 confirmed the identity of the deceased.

Jay’siiah, originally from Brampton, Ont., had been living in Pelican Narrows around the time of his disappearance. According to investigators, he was last in contact with family members on May 16, 2025, through social media.

The teen was initially reported missing to Peel Regional Police in Ontario. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes — now known as the Homicide Investigation Unit — took over the case in July 2025 after investigators determined the disappearance was suspicious.

RCMP now say they believe Jay’siiah’s death is a homicide.

“Residents of Pelican Narrows may notice an increased police presence in relation to this ongoing investigation,” RCMP said in an earlier release issued when Major Crimes assumed conduct of the case.

Jay’siiah was described by police as a Black male, standing five-foot-11 with a slim build and black shoulder-length curly hair styled in braids.

Investigators are continuing to seek information from the public. Anyone with details related to the investigation or Jay’siiah’s disappearance is asked to contact Saskatchewan RCMP at 310-RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Victim services have been made available to the teen’s family.
